Popular Romanian folk song ‘Ciocarlia’ (the Lark) provided the inspiration for this painting. It is realized from the point of view of the lark, high up in the trees.   Below, a young woman in a traditional Romanian folk costume admires the beauty of nature. A strong connection between man/woman and nature is often found in Romanian folklore.  It is the inspiration for numerous legends, songs, as well as sculptures and paintings.  This painting is meant to pay homage to both this source of inspiration and to Romanian folklore.
